DESCRIPTION: WW - Omega Marine, manual wind, 24mm x 34mm to lug tips, 18mm lug wire lug width, original modular stainless steel case for water resistance with a locking clip on the back, black leather strap, refinished silvered dial with black painted Arabic numerals, 15J, s#8480813, triple signed. First patented and introduced to the world in 1932, the Marine was truly ahead of its time. This was the first watch specifically designed and tested to withstand serious subaquatic depths. In 1936 Omega sent a Marine down to 73 meters in Lake Geneve; following this in 1937, the Swiss Laboratory for Horology officially certified the Marine to depths of 135 meters. In a world before the Aqua-Lung, when diving was still being done with large helmets, this was incredible technology. Truly a wonderful piece of diving and Omega history which predates the famed Blancpain Fifty Fathoms by nearly 20 years.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, nearly mint cosmetic mvt condition overall, light oxide to steelwork; excellent refinished dial with very light surface spotting; blued steel hands show light oxide; polished case shows light wear, lugs originally would have had screws which at some point have been soldered to a fixed position, several light dings on the sides, back and clip, light marks on back from removal of engraved presentation; crown shows little wear; good inner and outer glass crystals.
ESTIMATE: $600 - $1200
